Salisbury is a town on the north bank of the Petitcodiac River, about 25 kilometres west of Moncton and Riverview. It was a village for 57 years, from 1966 to 2023, and had 2,387 people in 2021.

Home of the Silver Fox

Salisbury became a permanent settlement when settlers from Yorkshire, England arrived in 1774. It grew quickly as a fox farming community, where a special mutation of fox with grey and white fur was bred on many farms. That's where the saying "Home of the Silver Fox" comes from, and some wild foxes nearby still carry the genes. Old farm properties often have outbuildings, barns and long water lines that run a long way from the house. Each one is a place a pipe can freeze.
