Plumber in Riverview

Riverview at a glance

Riverview is a town in Albert County on the south side of the Petitcodiac River, across from Moncton and Dieppe. It had 20,584 people in 2021 across about 34 square kilometres, making it the largest town in New Brunswick.

What that means for your plumbing

Riverview's slogan is "A Great Place To Grow", and many homes are family houses with finished basements. A finished basement hides pipes and makes leaks costly. Testing the sump pump and knowing where the main shut-off is are two of the best things you can do; see sump pumps.

On the river's south bank

Homes on lower ground near the Petitcodiac can see higher groundwater in spring. If your basement gets damp during the thaw, have the sump pump and its discharge line checked, and make sure downspouts drain well away from the foundation.

Three villages, one town

Settlers from Yorkshire, England began farming here around 1783. The Town of Riverview was formed on July 9, 1973, when the villages of Bridgedale, Gunningsville and Riverview Heights joined together. Harold Findlay became the first mayor, serving a population of 14,177. In the decades since, the town has grown by more than 6,000 people. Homes from the original villages now sit beside newer subdivisions, so the plumbing ranges widely in age. If your house dates from before amalgamation, the sewer lateral and supply pipe may be original. A camera inspection and a look at the visible pipes can tell you where you stand before a winter backup does.
